Washington DC currently resides under 7 inches of snow. That’s pretty chilly, but not everything glacial is bad. Have a look at one of the US City’s latest exports, post-punk outfit Dot Dash. Monochrome harmonies sit atop a spiky backdrop of slashing guitars and thundering basslines. it’s fundamentally then, now and timeless for those of us who like our rock angular yet accessible.
If you think of pre-Oasis Creation, when everyone loved the Velvets, PiL and Syd Barrett, you’ve got an idea of where Dot Dash are coming from. It’s dark, it’s cavernous but it still has a soul and a way with a hook. Here’s a track to give you an idea of what we mean:

Um, DC is on the other side of the country from Washington state. Seattle just got 7 inches of snow. We’re pretty clear of the stuff here in DC. But I agree Dot Dash is worth checking out.
