We do our bit for charity round these parts, especially environmental ones. For instance, we have often investigated the possibility of sponsoring an elephant. We don’t sponsor as many elephants as we’d like to at ELM, and we’d like to sponsor one, so that means we don’t sponsor any.
So we help in other ways, such as drawing your attention to Charity Baw.
Charity Baw is a new Edinburgh based music event and celebrates its launch night on Saturday 21st November at Edinburgh’s Roxy Art House with three rooms of live bands and DJs. Money raised will go to Oxfam and be used in the fight against climate change.
Headlining the launch night will be The Real Tuesday Weld (pictured), supported by local heroes Aberfeldy and Withered Hand as well as Glasgow’s choir sensation – it says here – The Parsonage. Other artists appearing will include Come On Gang! who we like a lot. There will also be DJ sets from Radio 1’s Vic Galloway, the awesome Pictish Trail and On the Fly (Fence Records). Tickets are available from ‘Avalanche’ and ‘We Got Tickets’ for £10.

I witnessed that choir mob at a charity do in Oran Mor last year. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
It’s like Your Big Best Gay West End Choir Nightmare only worse. They covered some pop songs du jour. Yes, that awful.
