ELM’s most vitriolic contibutor is, without a doubt, ScantRegard. You know what I’m talking about, you’ve read her stuff. So when she tells me that a song is everything she likes about music, then that’s one that’s definitely on the ‘must-hear’ list. With that in mind, here is Neko Case with ‘People Got A Lotta Nerve’, which is a certainty to finish high up on our singles of the year poll. A bold claim in June, but one I’m sure you’ll agree with us once you’ve heard it. Enjoy.

If you are not familiar with her band The New Pornographers, then also well worth a listen They have a few albums out, but their last one – Challengers – is as good a place to start as any.
Also a tenner a month to join Spotify is great value. Saves you at least that much on albums that you do not buy having given them a spin or two and deciding “nah”. (Or maybe you have the free subscription in the UK by now and it makes even more sense)
Spotify does indeed rock.
Got to say LO, the New Pornographers never really did it for me. Don’t know why, I love that type of music, but they’ve just never hooked me. I think her solo stuff is much better, similar to Rilo Kiley and Jenny Lewis.
